Now, don't stop me here, folks, I know what you're thinking: what the crap is a new rant doing up on SUNDAY? And my answer to that is - HAVEN'T YOU BEEN PAYING ATTENTION?!? Blue made a promise to put something new and/or (we're hoping for an "and" response here) cool up on Sunday, and I am a gamer of my word, darnit.
So you may have noticed that this particular character seems a little - welllllll, a LOT perhaps - unusual, and that's because he is, frankly. In Blue's first formative days, back when I was getting the whole idea of the site and comic mapped-out, Satan - the Devil, el Diablo, Lord of Destruction, Lucifer, Prince of Darkness and all that - was actually going to BE a member of the cast, a face to pop in now and then and be amusing and annoying. You know, the whole "wacky hijinks result" formula. The actual idea was that it wasn't *actually* Satan appearing, but rather his younger brother, who had taken it upon himself to seduce every type of woman in the world alphabetically, and for some reason had picked out Blue to start with - who of course is not in the least bit interested, and continually makes fun of him, especially his strange yellow board shorts and distinct lack of nipples. It made for an interesting gag for a strip or two in my odd little brain, but after actually producing a strip or two, I decided he wasn't really going to work with the whole "motif" or what have you, and essentially showed him the door - until two days ago, of course, when I rooted out his design, colored it up all pretty, and posted him back up in glory for all of you to see. Wahoot. Upon an insistence from a roommate (and if YOU guys like him) younger brother of Satan (name forthcoming) might JUST make an appearance in the strip, but in the meantime, we'll just see how things go.
Another major reason I decided against the whole "devil in a comic strip" thing was that I began to read Sinfest (and, for a short while, Hell Sweet Hell, a Keenspace strip, which has the Devil as the essential LEAD for the comic), which both present far more interesting and amusing Satans than I here offer. So I let that idea go, not wanting to be sued - but again, if you convince me that he is wanted, I'll see what I can do. I don't know about that tho[...] you guys don't even KNOW what I've got planned in my little cranium for the future. Hey, if I can conceive of a gigantic purple Pokémon eating people, WHAT might come next?! ::grin::
Arg - must return to homework. But I hope you all dig everything that's going on, the pic, stuff n' stuff, e-mail me with comments if you see fit, and take care.
