We Be Buggin'
July 19, 2002
This is just a shout-out to all those who are afraid of roaches: we're not WIIMPS, dammit. Those who either haven't grown up in a climate with these bugs or have some strange antibody or whatever-the-fuck that keeps them from going ape-shit around them (like a *normal* person) just don't understand this. Roaches are the most LOATHSOME creatures on the planet, with the exception of things like tapeworms, viruses, and that asshole that showed up at Blockbuster yesterday (yeah buddy-who-demanded-everything and yelled like a 3-year-old for no reason, I'm talking to YOU, you bitch). There's just something about them that makes them completely disgusting beyond all reason, possibly the fact that when one touches you, you feel as if you will NEVER EVER BE CLEAN *AGAIN*. Yes, I know that supposedly roaches run off and clean *themselves* after they come into contact with humans, but fuck if I care about that: just because dogs eat kitty poopie doesn't mean that's not completely disgusting. But yeah. I'm not attempting to suggest that Derec is anything other than a "manly man" (whatever that's to mean), he's just freaked out like any normal person would be. So yeah. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it. Booyah.

Just found out a little somethin'-somethin' that all those with DVD players and a high rate of DVD rentals might like to know: you out there in Readerland should know I work at Blockbuster, and as it turns out, they've got an excellent little "DVD Freedom Pass" in the works - think Game Freedom Pass, just with DVDs - that's sure to make a LOT of people happy. Now, I haven't been briefed on the details, but I know it's about as much as a Game Pass (around $17.50 or so with tax, I think) and either lasts as a monthly thing or - this is new - as an add-on to the membership. I know the Game Freedom Pass allows you to take out only 2 games at a time, but keep them for AS LONG AS YOU WANT free of charge, and I'm betting that works the same in this situation (no late fees, wahoot). [Just so you know, she heard it from someone who *should* know what they are talking about, but no promises people...that's our disclaimer - web guy Josiah]

So why am I taking the time to tell you all especially about this? Simple reason. For the very FIRST time, we associates, we workers of Blockbuster, are actually getting PAID for this. I'm not making this up. It's great!! Evidently we'll get an extra 5-spot for every yearlong Pass we sell and 2 bucks for every monthlong one, and yay for extra cash. From what I've heard so far, this deal is so dammed good they'll practically sell THEMSELVES, but I'm practicing all the same, and want to get the word out to everyone because hell, even if I can't benefit from it, SOMEONE ought to. If you visit Blockbuster a lot, take your time, I think, and get one from the associate you like the best ::wink:: Hell, call it giving back for good service, or whatever, or just being nice, or plain old getting a sweet deal. Whatever is cool. I'm fairly sure it starts THIS TUESDAY, so do a happy dance and get your ass prepped for this. I know *I* will be.

Also found out I can get, for a limited time, 20% off of a Playstation 2 if I get one from my store. You think these things are related? ::pause:: Naaaaah.

Tuesday's comic likely won't be my last dig at the media for all time, but I think I've got my issues with them worked out for at least the last while. Just so you know. For good or for evil. Or something.

Ate some fricking AWESOME Chinese food (at the New Asia Buffet in downtown Tempe, go or I'll kick you in the face - well, not really, but it'll be bad enough that you're missing all the tasty snackies) and saw "Iron Monkey," tonight, and am in a gigantic wonderful ass-kicking kung-fu mood. Look to see this reflected (I hope) in the future. Especially if you ask for it. Sending me fan art is good too. ::pause:: And money. Annie *always* likes the bling-bling.

Final note: I've been dying to make some of my very own Sims skins, namely of Blue and her gang of misfits, but my efforts have so far come to naught. Anyone either have or know where to get a Sims Skin Maker or whatever? I'd appreciate it much, and hell: if you wanted, I'd give you the very first copy or whatever I made ::smile::

Well, I've got to jet, but you crazy people take it easy and be well. ::leaps into the air, bounds silently off of table and opposite wall, and soars out the window and into the night::

My own secret style,
Annie "Blue" VM

"Red Alert"

Remember in the last post how I said "in my spare time", well I have quite a bit of it right now, so you can guess what I've been working on. Rather than working on the communication crap (because it really isn't that interesting), I've decided to do the majority of my work on the backend that is required to make the mud work. Namely the database backends and interfaces. I've got an base-object database and object instance databse done. I finished the item format, I'm working on the player, skills, statistics, etc formats. Not too bad for maybe 2 days worth of work. It's entirely possible I'll have all the programming done for the mud within the next couple weeks (no promises though). Then what will I do? Oh yeah...content *grumble*. If you're curious, I'm seeking to write the mud based on the Revised Star Wars Role Playing Game rules. It's basically DND 3rd Edition, only with Star Wars. W00t I say. Hopefully I'll get most of it down, though likely there will be limited (if any) vehicle-based combat. For now, I think it's also going to be turn-based like the Final Fantasy series, though that may change. We'll see what I'm thinking when I get around to that part. There's definitely going to be Starship travel though *grin*.
