Don't F&*$ With the Jesus

Well. 2003. Feels a little different from 2002, which is really saying something for me, because in previous years I haven't really noticed any difference between one year and the next. It could be because New Years kind of crept up on me this year - sans publicity and generally making a big deal of things - and it could in fact be because this year I not only graduate from college (W00T) but also get married (double W00T) and hopefully get into grad school (triple W00T). But enough of that.
Saw Metroid Prime today. ::big grin:: Sooooooooooooooo nice. Annie wantee that, too. Samus Aran just kicks so much ass, it's damn *legendary* - as Tycho from Penny Arcade once said (paraphrased), "Samus is so bad-ass, she makes Lara Croft look like a bitchy waitress." I heartily agree. No one can say it quite like Mr. Brahe, that's for sure. W00T Tycho.
What do you think of "Samus" as a name for a girl? Or is that too much like naming one's offspring "Turok"? ::shudder:: I gag to think.
Maybe just a middle name.
::yawn:: Wow. Spent a while working on the comic - and the ones following it - tonight, and I have to say I'm excited about the next arc, with the kind of trepidation that follows many of my creative endeavors... increasingly so this particular one you see before you right now. So far all the feedback regarding this (now ending) "Jesus arc" have been positive - nobody's threatened to stab me in the eye yet, which is good - but dramatic-type asides in a generally humorous comic are often regarded with suspicion... and oftentimes rightly so. If something goes right against the grain of what a comic has previously been based on, it should of course furrow a few brows: but I feel that if it continues in the original spirit of the comic itself and the nature of the characters, things are cool. Chris Morrison - bless his kind, link-giving, creative heart - raised a bit of hoopla by his massive, more serious-type storyline for his comic (Polymer City Chronicles, to the foo' who's not "in the know"), and abandoning it much later on: but throughout, the characters were true to form, the story was as engaging and great to read as always - serious or not - and that level of skill and enjoyment still persists. I don't claim - by far - to be at Chris's level, but rest assured, if Blue should get a little more serious here and there (and don't be fooled, moments of seriousness HAVE come by so far in this comic, whether you noticed them or not... I don't know, maybe you were out getting a Pop Tart or something while they came by), I'll do my best to follow his example and make everything "match-up," so to speak. I *LIKE* doing this comic. I think I always will - at the very least, I always HOPE I will, and if the time comes along when it becomes a hassle and a bore, I'll do what I can to fix the problem or wrap things up considerately and kindly (but God forbid these should occur). I freeze in hopes that you're like me in this, and are willing to go the distance with me if I make sure to take you there. I hope you brought a snack - I think I'll be around here a while ::smile::
So enough chatter. Go enjoy the comic, and occupy your brain - if it's not already busy thinking of ways in which to spend that one Best Buy gift certificate you got - with ideas of what this next storyline will be. Or something. At any rate, take care and the whatnot.
Always Minty-Fresh,
Annie "Blue" VM
