There Is Nothing Wrong With That
March 28, 2003
Hey folks, short rantness tonight: spent a while mucking around on the comic, and, as Thursday had the feeling to it of being all rainy-snowy-sleety and constantly made me want to sit down with a mug of tea and a good book and I DIDN'T, well, here's my revenge: short rant! Muaha! Well, it may be viewed as a GOOD thing by some, but poo on them, and stuff. Kidding. Kinda.

Anyhow... Web Guy Josiah's still up here with me, and I'm eager to watch him play Ocarina of Time (side note: I WISH so much that the Zelda series had paid attention to continuity like the Metroid series did. I love Link, but I prefer to think of him as one person, not lots, and certainly not a gaggle of little kids. Bleah.) and assorted bits of hanging out. But first, I'll leave you with these little items:

  • You may have read me going silly about a little picture called Spirited Away but a director called Hayao Miazaki that just won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Wellllll, that same picture will be OUT IN THEATRES TODAY (i.e. Friday) and you can bet my dear Web Guy and I will be going. This was the actual dialogue between the two of us regarding it:
"You know that one movie, Spirited Away? Let's go see it on Friday."
    "What's it like?"
"Well, you know the director, Miazaki, did Princess Mononoke?"
    "Indeed I do."
    "Well, Spritited Away is BETTER."
    "How is that possible?"
    "Trust me, it IS."
    "'Kay, we'll go see it."
...and there you have it. Go and see for yourself.
  • Another bit of goodness is the comic that Stubble linked to, Wapsi Square. Evidently the fellow who does it lives in or near the Twin Cities (go Minnesota-based webcomic artists! ::smile::), and although it took me a little while to get into (one of the problems with beginning, as the Greeks say, in medias res), it's really a nice piece of work. The characters are engaging, the plots interesting and funny, and the art unique and impressive: all elements rare not only in the webcomics world, but in real life as well. Props to Paul Taylor, its progenitor.
Well, that's it for me tonight. Peaceness to you and yours.
