That Pretty Much Explains It
April 25, 2003
Yes, people, it's Hat Day today: the comic surely didn't lie. I, like Tycho of the Penny Arcade, share an attraction to hats that defies description, and could think of nothing finer than to have a particular day to demonstrate this affection. Thus, HAT DAY. I will be sporting one of the many jaunty pieces of headgear in my collection on this fine day, and it would be splendid to have you all join me. In fact, if you know me, you likely at one time or another have seen me wear my special "gaming hat" - the one that Blue is wearing in panel 2 and which I am wearing in the picture to the right. As you can see, it is quite of the jaunty persuasion, and don't I know it. Huzzah!

I know more than one person has been confused about the whole Rocketbox Comics thing, so I will explain thus: you CAN vote more than once! YES! Vote again! In fact, vote every day! Vote and show your love! That makes Annie happy. ::grin::

Have you heard all the crap going on about Penny Arcade and American Greetings? Stupid punk-ass AG made PA take down a perfectly harmless satire strip they did on Strawberry Shortcake (i.e. what it might look like if American McGee put his particular stank on it). It's not like they really used the characters in more than a vaguely recognizable way - not to mention these are characters virtually untouched in any way by that company for more that FIFTEEN YEARS - and as Brian Clevenger of 8-Bit Theater put it, "It's another example of Corporate America tossing its weight around because its got dozens of teams of lawyers and what are you going to do that could possibly stop them?" More than a LITTLE something: as Barry Smith of Angst Technology sez, "This is definitely one to keep an eye on as it pertains to the very core of what many of us do. Satire, parody, and humor are under attack. The battle lines are being drawn." Indeed, I agree, for what my humble opinion is worth. So yeah: it's up to us to boycott American Greetings products now, to do our part to make a very solid point... AND there's also a petition against AG up at 8-Bit Theater as well, so you ought to check that out.

PLUS, you should check out 8-Bit Theatre and Angst Technology if you don't read them already. They're hilarious and VERY well-done, and yeah. GO DO IT!

Less than a month until the wedding, and still needing those guest strips... please? I'd be much thankful, and yeah. T'would be very nice. I've gotten a few takers, but have yet to see any strips. Ah well. S'pose I gotta think up a prize or something as some incentive... we'll see. Indeed.

Well, that seems like it for tonight... only a little note for those of you kind enough to stick around so far. Strip #149 is today. That means Tuesday is something SPECIAL. No promises, only a note that I'm working hard on it and do hope you won't be disappointed.

But in the meantime, keep with the being of cool and suchlike. And don't forget your friggin' HATS! Booyah!!
