Saved From the Suck
July 11, 2003
Boy howdy. I'm freakin' out here.

We're #1 in the Rocketbox Comics Top Comics list. Number ONE. It's mind-blowing. At least for me.

First thanks go out to all you kind bugger what vote like the crazy-go-nuts. You are wonderful and cool and I likes you greatly. Pat yourselves on the back for being so cool.

Second thanks go to Mr. Danny Fekete (a.k.a., for reasons of which I remain unsure and somewhat in awe of, "Mr. Phyigglesnyph") of the awesome comic site The Stairwell, the guys who probably should be in the space at the top I'm now at. Not only does his site (and the four comics it plays host to) rizock the hizouse, he actually sent me an e-mail this morning congratulating us on our new ranking. Isn't that awesome? He and his comics are probably going to buzz right past us in a wink, but I don't mind a bit. He's an awesome guy, his site and comics are awesome, what can I say, it's a big ol' pile of awesomeness. Awesomeosity. Whatever.

Third thanks go to Web Guy Josiah because he just deserves it. No questions asked.

Anyhow, the stuffness. I have a bag of linkness, if you'd like to check it out. Do you? Here, take a peek:

  • BEHOLD! Hier ist Schoolbooks and Brimstone, a webcomic of few actual comics but style enough to make you fall right out of your goddammed chair, and I'm not kidding. This sucker shows plenty promise, and if you quickly exhaust your store of goodness at that particular website but still hunger for more, check out the author Stephanie Lostimolo's own website, and there you shall find much goodness to feed upon. My only wish is that she had STORIES to go with all of her incredible pictures, right now I look at them and am dying to know the tale that surrounds them.

  • Next up is Outsider, which is not only one dammed amazing comic with a compelling story and nifty art, it's one of the most in-depth works I have ever SEEN. This fellow Jim Francis - and his assorted friends and family that help him out - has obviously given this scads of thought... as if the in-depth FAQs, CGI models of alien craft, sidestory comic, and Concept art page weren't enough proof! Jeebus Bob. I might say that one should only check out this site if one had a lot of time on their hands so they might investigate it to its fullest, but screw that, yo. Then a lot of rather busy people would miss out on all this goodness, and we can't have that, no sir.

  • Ah, and here is Planet Earth (and other tourist traps), which is also a goodness. It takes a while to really get into, and while the art may be less than spectacular (although it's unfair to place it next to the above sites in that regard, that'd shoot ANYTHING in the foot) (and really, like a hack like me can really be picky about art), it's clever, and I likes it. It touches those quiet places of funny, especially gamer funny, that draw forth the coveted snicker of the silly. And one thing about this comic? It's got a long history... so you can see how it keeps getting better and better. I recommend it.

  • Annie want to go see Pirates of the Caribbean very much so. I just DO. But I think it should be rated ARRRR [pun simultaneously created among millions of moviegoers, I'm sure - web guy Josiah].

Sorry, I needed to say that. It's like crack - you understand.

Arg, me tired. I'm likely forgetting something important (aw, shit, the dishes!). But it's 2 in the AM, and I've spent FAR too much time on today's (and Tuesday's) comics, and I am tired something FIERCE. So take it off. ...NO! Take it easy. Yes. Be well. Me go sleep now. ::falls over::

The Last Thought Before the Dark,
    Annie "Blue" C

    I don't know what's left to say
    I'll say it anyway

    - Reel Big Fish
    "Take On Me"

I don't know about you, but I think that the title of today's comic should have been "Nearly fUXX0r3d". But that's just me.
