BE WARNED: Today's comic is not for the faint of heart. Not for the faint of anything, really, just because.

The news to which I refer in the comic is utterly and completely true: as Dave Barry says, "I am absolutely not making this up." And I'm not. This story came to me by way of the Web Guy, who haunts a particular news blog called the Daze Reader. Now, while Blue wouldn't be the type to read the 'Daze, assumably someone on the newsgroup she haunts does visit that particular blog, or found the news through alternate means. Either way, you know, I'm not picky. Just lettin' the readers unravel their own path through the background noise, you know. Or something.

Quote of the day is from last night's Daily Show, courtesy of Jon Stewart (bless him, the delightful rogue) when he cracked up for the umpteenth time interviewing his good friend Martin Lawrence: "Oh my God, I'm so happy, I'm retarded." Damn but I adore that guy. I want his humor bottled for my consumption, refreshing and glorious as it is. ::happy little sigh::

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - i.e. Harry Potter Book Five - finished by me in around a day and a half. YAY. Actually, I'm torn between happy and sad. On one hand, yay, it's done! I got to enjoy all of it! ::big smile:: On the other hand, WAAAAH, it's done! Now I have to want God-knows-how-long until Book Six, and then Book Seven, and then it will all be over! ::sobs::

Hey, I promised my brother I'd "send out the feelers" about this long ago, and kept forgetting to do it, so finally I get around to it: HEY FOLKS. Any of you remember a while back - when the sketch comedy group "The Kids in the Hall" (yay!) were still on Comedy Central? Okay, this isn't about them. This is about another Canadian sketch comedy group that consists entirely of guys (only 4 of them, though) that's produced by Lorne Michaels - "The Vacant Lot." They weren't on for more than two years (maybe only one, I'm not sure), but they were quite funny, and if anyone knows where/when tapes or DVDs of their stuff might be available or acquirable, please for to e-mail me and let me know. I'd much appreciate it.

Hey get this: both Planet Earth (and other tourist traps and Wapsi Square decided to link us this week, the former in a mention (mentioning us linking them!) in their rants, and the latter as a feature in their "Special Attention Comic Section"... banner and everything! ::grin:: I actually mailed Paul Taylor of Wapsi about his kindness the other day, and he replied kindly that "after reading a thread over at Rocketbox about comics helping each other, I'm just trying to do my part." What a great guy! ::grin:: GO, my pretties, visit him! You'll notice I've also permanently linked his comic over there on the right [on the front page - web guy Josiah], something I should've done a while ago because he is so awesome, and Wapsi Square is such a great comic. Keep it up, yo ::wave::

...Oh yeah, and in addition to dear Wapsi, you'll find several other new permanent links: go check them out, read and enjoy (assuming you aren't reading them already, and if you are, keep it up!)

Finally, as you can tell by the fact that I am typing this on my own computer here at the apartment in Irvine, I am not, in fact, 1.5 hours drive away in San Diego at the huge freakin' ComicCon, meeting people like Tycho and Gabe from Penny Arcade, Scott Kurtz from PVP, Greg from Real Life, and Piro from Megatokyo. There are also a bunch of wonderful people whom I am sure I'm forgetting, who I would probably see there... were I there. Hugh - fucking - Jackman will be there. I'm missing seeing the man who plays WOLVERINE. ::head thunks down with a hollow noise upon the desktop:: No, don't worry. I'll be all right after I've had time to stew in my own pathetic self-pity. You guys just go about your business. ::pathetic little whimpering sobs::

Hey, what'd I say? Be well and go enjoy the comic! Shoo and leave me here to rot with sorrow! Get! ::makes a shooing motion before returning to sniffling and wails::

Princess of the Pity Party,

What's the purpose, what's the point
We don't really know
