Guess She Failed Flirting 101
August 19, 2003
Hey folks, I'm back again, and this time - like or unlike other times - I've got the N00Z. What is that, you ask? Well, simply that Web Guy Josiah and I will be taking a wee little trip to Minnesota at the beginning of next month, and, while it might make your intake of comikken a bit stilted, rest assured we will do our honest best to get everything to you on time and in good quality, and in the strange situation that anything should go wrong, I will indeed be getting you the apology art forthwith. Just wanted to keep you posted, you know. I do that. ::wink:: I know better than to cut you guys off of your comic-ey goodness, especially when starting a new arc ::wink::

So. Yeah, as I said, new arc today, which was almost delayed until Friday because of my musing of perhaps making a mock campaign-comic promoting Blue's run for governor of California. And while that may have been funny at the beginning, now - especially to those of us LIVING in CA - it's like watching a car sail off of a cliff. It's even passed dark, sadistic humor, and now is oozing its way into the Realm of the Fucking Sad. ::sigh:: I just wish the recall wouldn't go through, and everybody (and the ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY FIVE candidates running for governor) could just pack up and go home. Especially I don't want Arnold "Misogynistinator" Schwartzenegger being in charge of a paper cup, much less the state. Like his movies if you will, but when it comes to the man, he's a bastard and everyone should read this story and know about it. In fact, share it with EVERYONE you know, especially if they live in CA. I don't like to get involved with politics, don't like picking sides, but I hate misogynistic fucktards as a rule, and if my action here means even only two less votes for Ahnold, so be it, and I'll sleep better at night. I rarely like to use this place as a soapbox, but dammit, when I am I've got a good reason to. But anyhow. Away from the serious and back to the funny (and share that article with your friends).

Yeah. Stuffness. Been reading all sorts of goodness lately, from having abused Josiah's interlibrary-loan borrowing rights as a graduate student at UCI by getting piles of books from Richard Adams, Neal Stephenson, Jonathan Lethem, and even a few Sandman books (which I was lucky indeed to find!). I'm most of the way through Stephenson's first book, The Big U, right now, and although it's not the best thing I've ever read and more than a bit confusing, I still like it, and was actually counting on it being a bit tough to get through. I wanted to see where such a brilliant writer had his genesis, where someone who makes such amazing work in the last 10 + years cut his teeth. If you like that kind of revelation (and are likely either an English major or someone who really digs seeing where everything came from, a kind of literary archeologist), than I'd say The Big U is for you. Its tone isn't sleeked out and sure of itself like later Stephenson, and he seems so eager to show you all the awesome wacked-out shit he's created than it can get tangled and confusing at times, but yeah, it's a fun ride, methinks. And as for The Sandman? Well, I'll let my beloved Web Guy talk about that one - we're of a mind in that matter, I think. ::grin::

Well, I've gotta run, but take care, keep it real and all that. Peace.

As the lady says, we both agree that "The Sandman" is very good. I would say it is the bizomb.
That is all.
