Sweet, Sweet Elven Ass-Meats
October 17, 2003
Damn it. Final Fantasy X won't stop calling my name, after burrowing into my head like some kind of exotic bug and laying its eggs in my brain. GAH! ::shakes head vigorously:: See, Web Guy Josiah and I have this thing where we do "codependent gaming," where we take a looooooooong RPG and only play it when we're together, beginning to end. So FFX is near the final battle, but of course it's right when we have to do things like get Ultimate Weapons, the Al Bhed primers we missed, collect thingies to upgrade weapons, get the hidden aeons, level-up our characters, complete the hidden areas, and blah-blah-blah list goes on FOREVER. God, if the Final Fantasy series is about anything, it is not about being SHORT. Crap. Nonetheless, I yearn to play it, but y'see, I gotta get Web Guy Josiah's cooperation, and he's a busy man, see? ::sigh:: And I know it's not terribly exciting, but dammit, we need a ton of fire gems before we can make some equipment "Fire Eater"-type, you know? Sheesh.

God, we've missed so much by now, I almost think I should spend some time amalgamating the piecemeal walkthroughs we've read so far into one massive ULTIMATE guide, and just start the damn game over again. But Jeebus... we're 53 hours in. Can I duplicate that? Can I improve on it? Do I WANT to?? These, they are the questions I must ask myself before I do anything foolish. But enough out of me. At least on that subject. Heh.

So. Things. Not much going on in the world of Annie, frankly: still sans employment (and believe me, I'd consider begging for tips from you guys if I knew that people would bother giving me any money... and who I didn't know personally, because that'd just be wrong), and short on ideas for Halloween costumes... well, short on ideas for workable Halloween costumes, anyway. Any ideas for what Blue should be, or any of her cohorts? Because all I can think of are ninjas and pirates, and how much I wish I could still go Trick-or-Treating but it becomes one of those things you can't do when you're 22. Dammit. Kids getting all the fun. What's our consolation? Parties. Which are nice if you have one to go to, and all the better if you have one to go to where getting totally hammered isn't a major requirement.

You know, I'll just say it once, but dammit, adulthood blows. You kids out there (I'm speaking broadly here, as I don't imagine any should actually be reading this comic) who think "yeah, when I grow up, I'm going to be a fireman and an astronaut and eat cookies for breakfast and watch television whenever I want"... yeah, you keep thinkin' that. I won't tell you the truth: kids grow up too damn fast nowadays. I'll just say you should enjoy things like Trick-or-Treating and birthday parties while you can. After a while, nobody gives a crap that you're another year older, and the stuff you did when you were younger (ah, glorious TP-ing houses...) goes from being a "childish prank" to a misdemeanor, so, well, SUCK. Just so you know.

Well, that's enough of me ranting like a dork, so I'll leave you with this fact: Samurai Jack is the frickin' bomb. I didn't think it could be possible that a show could be created that was at once so artistically impressive/stylistically breaktaking and so utterly full of ass-kicking all at once... but, well, there it is. I think when I have the money, the entire line of Samurai Jack action figures will be mine. Dorky? Maybe. Expensive? Probably. Wicked awesome? Hell yeah. Woo, nerditude. I enjoy it!

Take care, folks. Keep on doin' what you're doin'... or something.

Chock Full O' Eloquence,

Sorry that I'm posting the comic kind of late (in the morning rather than around midnight), but I got distracted by Matchstick Men. Quite a good movie. Give it a look whenever you get the chance.

In case you are curious, the title of today's comic is an inside joke from the people Annie and I spent our time with during undergrad. We hope you enjoy it.
