Keepin' It Civil, One Body At A Time

I've got to say a little something about today's comic - a disclaimer, if you will. I don't mean it to be an attack on anyone - well, besides shoppers who act like assholes to brand-new holiday help who are doing the best they can, and the hypercommercialization of the holidays in general - just sort of a reflection on the "offical beginning of the shopping season." I've worked in holiday retail many a time (and "Black Friday" more than once), and although you find many people who are calm and rational about what they're getting, often you run across the rude, rabid types who are wont to ruin anyone's day - shopper and cashier alike. I'm not trying to send out a clarion call of "THIS IS WHAT WE SHOULD BE DOING!!" but rather, well, this is what I'M doing today and why I'm doing it. Well, not really - since I'm in AZ I don't exactly have my PS2 with me, but hey, going to the Science Museum with my family isn't shopping and it IS a lot of fun, so yay. That's just to let you know where I really stand in all this. Blue's tip to holiday shoppers: be nice. Don't freak out at the poor salespeople if something isn't in stock, or you're not overjoyed with their return policy - that's all corporate's bag. They're just doing their jobs. ...Not like I'm battening down the hatches myself to face a lineup of mean, blowhard moms who freak out if their son didn't get EXACTLY the right Yu-Gi-Oh! card in a package that they wanted. Not at ALL.
Well, that's about it for me right now - I do believe I've got friends to see, family to hang out with, and a lot more turkey to eat. Hope you all had a most enjoyable holiday. ::grin:: ::wave:: Bye now.
I Make My Own Magic,
