This is a comic I've been wanting to do for a while - ever since this comic, actually - just to clarify precisely WHY it is that Blue is so determined that Duo Maxwell (of the anime series Mobile Suit Gundam Wing) is not gay. Yes, she's obsessed with him, and has the hots for an animated character. But not to a scary degree, you dig? And? SHE'S a cartoon too (although she doesn't know that... don't tell her!), so it's not so bad. And? I thought picking Duo Maxwell would be funny not just because I like him a lot myself, but Gundam Wing is one of the animes with probably the largest collection of yaoi dojinshi (quick rough semi-accurate translation: yaoi = boys with boys, dojinshi = fan-made art and manga and such) of nearly ANY anime series (well, that wasn't yaoi or hentai to begin with, I guess). My "translations" are the result of friends telling me what they mean, so if I'm inaccurate here, chalk it up to that, and please for to mail me a correction without too much scorn added (for please). But yeah. One of the friends that Blue is referring to in that first panel, you might see later... if you're nice. I'm working on a better mental picture of him now, and he's a nifty guy, very fun. Methinks you'd like him. IF YOU'RE GOOD! ::cackles:: Anyhow.
Hey, folks, I've got to give a shout-out to alert reader Adam, all the way from Canberra, Australia... he not only gave a ton of suggestions for the calendar, but donated $10 to the worthy cause of helping out one of my dear friends. For that, he's getting a wallpaper, a whole bunch of my original art (that's been seen in scanned and finished version in many of my comics!), and chance to win something cool from one of the "I'm Blue" stores... and, well, since he's the only person who's donated so far, I'd say his chances of winning something are probably pretty good. ::laugh:: So Adam, I owe you one. Remember, only a buck donated gets you in the running for that nifty thingy, $5 gets you a wallpaper, $10 a drawing that became a strip template, and $25 gets you a custom drawing of Blue and/or her friends by ME (oo la la!). Okay, so get this: a while ago (and by that I mean, when we STARTED) we had linked to an incredible comic called Winter by a fellow named Lemuel Pew - also known as Hot Soup, and essentially the guy who kicked my ass into actually putting "I'm Blue" up here on the web - and yea, all was good. Then Lem got really busy, and things, and Winter pretty much petered away into nothing. THEN. About a year-and-a-half later... ::shakes head:: Whoo boy. I don't know why I did it, but a little ego search on Lem's name out of the blue on Tuesday led me back to Winter... and HOLY SHIT IT UPDATED! And not just updated, my peeps, but CAME ALIVE ONCE MORE! They've been up since October, I believe... and I just kept thinking, "Why the hell didn't anyone TELL me about this?!" So go check it out. Winter is so amazing, you might as well take off your socks now, because it will knock them right off anyway. Seriously. That's one hell of a comic, and I can't tell you how pleased I am that it's made a triumphant return. Lem, Kuzma, Dadelaus, the rest of Lem's peeps: I salute you. You better freaking believe it. ::wink::
