So here we are again. I'd say something like "we've got to stop meeting like this," but in truth I rather like meeting like this, meaning that you're here to read the comic, and that warms my heart right down to the cockles (which evidently have something to do with shells? Or something? I don't know precisely). But again. Here I go.
Yes. Casshern (the sweetness of the trailer is to be found here) is indeed looking to be one of the most awesome films in the history of EVER, boy howdy indeed, such that it brings geeks like myself into a flurry of frantic hand-waving and foaming at the mouth. Admittedly I have never seen the anime (yes, a LIVE-ACTION MOVIE based on an anime), but damn, do I want to! In all honesty, I should be viewing the anime FIRST and then seeing the movie to compare to the series, but really, if the movie comes out before I get a hold of the series, do you really think I'd wait to see it? Of course not. Would YOU? ::shakes head:: Didn't think so. Come, sit by my and Web Guy Josiah's sides, and wait with widely-open eager eyes for the announcement of its arrival at a Theatre Near Us. Woooooo!
This week has been one of great joy: Web Guy Josiah's illustrious 24th birthday was this Wednesday (upon which he beat Metroid Fusion - ah yes, forgot to mention we've got a GBS SP now, a snappy wee red number I've named The Little Devil - and we ate some damn tasty steak and such at Outback Steakhouse), we've both had more than a little time to relax, and I - courtesy of our good friend and informant Xedo (currently studying down in New Zealand, the lucky bugger) - have been playing the unofficial remakes of King's Quest 1 and KQ 2, and have been BLOWN THE HELL AWAY BY THEM. Bob bless Anonymous Game Developers Interactive (AGD Interactive for short) for remaking such incredible games in such a marvelous fashion. Seriously, everyone, these remakes are FREE and you should download them. The graphics may not be top-notch for nowadays stuff, but seriously, whether or not you were a fan of the King's Quest series from back in the day, you have to see these. They not only grasp what was so remarkable about the originals, they bring it to full, vibrant life, as they were MEANT to be seen. I mourned when Sierra lost its greatest minds - when Ken and Roberta Willams left - and thought the King's Quest series was dead. It lives on - and HOW! - with AGD's work. And Quest for Glory fans? They've got a remake for Quest for Glory II in the works. You have to love these guys. If they made t-shirts, I'd buy one and wear it proudly. W00Ticus maximus.
Oh, and not to be forgotten: remember Angst Technology? Possibly Weak-end Warriors? Both comics by a one Barry Smith, one of the creators of Rocketbox Comics? Well, sadly Rocketbox is no more... but InkTank, the hub for all this goodness (as well as Barry's new comic, Sorry, We're Open) is opening its doors again after an over seven month hiatus. Wow. I recall fretting it was dead months ago (a fate I fear has now befallen my beloved Lizard... PLEASE don't tell me Dave Kelly decided to end the strip at last! Noooo!), and I'm happy as a clam to find out that - as Mark Twain might have put it - "claims of its death have been greatly exaggerated." Well, let me be one to say Welcome Back, Barry: we missed you more than you know, and am damn glad to have you back ::grin::
Anywhoo. I should be on my way. Peace out, you crazy peoples.
Sweet and Sour,
Annie "Blue" C
