Yes, Blue's character is, in real life, mine. I like the thieving, and I like the casting of the spells, and I don't get what's so hot about humans that apparently orcs and elves find them so damn hot. ::shakes head:: So I made an "elfling," meaning her dad is a "pervy elf fancier" and her mom is a "pervy hobbit fancier," as I believe the fangirls are calling themselves these days. But yeah. My two favorite species to play as, how could I resist combining them? Two great tastes that taste great together! ...Or something. Yeah. The funny thing about my real life character is that her parents - permanent NPCs (Non-Player-Characters... meaning nobody's gonna play them first-hand but the Dungeon Master, or DM) - are epic level adventurers (meaning, to those not "in the know," that they are over level 20, which is mad powerful, yo), so she's gotta live up to her parent's example as well as having to deal with her own "unique" heritage. She's awesome. She's got a bard companion (who ISN'T a sulky drow elf). And she's crazy and fun and a blast to play. Her backstab will kick your ass. ::sigh:: I haven't been playing her lately and I miss doing so. Le sigh.
So I've been spending altogether too much time lately playing Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, after picking it up Sunday on the cheap. At first I was all "argh this game is making me irritated" - say goodbye to the handy tutorials that all the other Final Fantasy games are known for, and a totally worthless instruction book - but after a while (and resigning myself to maybe having to redo the game), things became far easier, and one realizes how deceptively simple the game really is. But? It still takes a while to get the full hang of the world, and dealing with your family through letters, and manipulating spells and status effects, and so on. I'm only in Year Two and I've got almost enough myrrh to return home, and I just barely got myself to quit to write the rant. It's also deceptively ADDICTIVE. Gabe and Tycho's love for it is not without merit and base, I should say. Certainly NOT. Were I to describe it in one word? Charming. Without question. The landscapes are beautiful and intricate; each area accompanied by a little story, via a woman's voice with a light Irish lilt; the character designs are whimsical and innovative; and the "diary" entries are a real touch of charm. It's not going to blow your mind, it's not going to keep you guessing at puzzles for hours, but who cares? It's FUN. Enjoy it. ::grin::
Hm. I think I had something else to say that was important and nifty, but you know? My brain is not wanting to work because its just remembered that we have some Haagen Dazs in the freezer. Damn you, greedy brain! ...Can't work now. Must have ice cream. Be well.
