Not What You'd Call A Happy Situation
May 11, 2004
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah buddy. ::grin:: ZotCon this Sunday was a blast: we didn't get quite as many people as we were expecting, but it was still a good showing for just before midterms for UCI students and Mother's Day and all that. I got a pretty good turnout for my panel (and to that one kid who fell asleep - you're damn lucky I didn't kick your ass), and aside from the aforementioned lamer kid, it was a LOT of fun (as was the Dopplegamer 3 showing). I got to meet some really fantastic people, including (but not excluded to) a talented lady named Kat, a clever and courteous bloke named Brenden (who is going to be starting his own comic one of these days, and you can bet your ass HE WILL BE LINKED HERE), and the ever-gentlemanly fellow Adam - believe it or not, THE Adam from Real Life Comics - and yeah, I nearly fell over. I met Adam from Real Life, and he's a hilarious, fantastic guy. He doesn't like pearl tea, but hey, I won't hold that against him ::chuckle:: And ADAM! If Barry hasn't told you yet, you won either the sword or the dagger in the raffle, you lucky bastard you. ::grin:: That's one you got on Greg! ::smile::

People must understand: I don't give a shit about film stars or TV people or musicians or whatever (there exist a few exceptions, like Jon Stewart, Hugh Jackman, and They Might Be Giants, to name a few), but webcomic creators and those in their inner circle? YOU are my celebrities. And I think you all deserve it, too. So while plenty enough girls freak out over David Borenaz or whatever, I go all spaz-ey at peeps like Lem "Hot Soup" Pew and his friends, and Adam and his home-slice Greg, or DEAR GOD if I get to meet Tycho and Gabe I do believe I will have to roll a natural 20 on my Will save to keep from freaking out. I bought Pocky to present to them on Thursday. I'm not even shitting you. I hope they like the strawberry kind, it's my favorite.

God, I'm probably scaring everyone. The thing of it is? I love meeting people. I really do. ESPECIALLY I love meeting cool, funny, creative folks, and never will you find a better group with those characteristics than (as I have found) webcomics people and their friends. They are all HILARIOUS people who know how to have a good time (I must, in fact, credit one of Hot Soup's friends - forgive me, I forgot whom - with reading the joke, at 2:30 AM, that made us all laugh for a HALF AN HOUR), and I wouldn't trade a minute of their company for anything. I think the reason that webcomics have flourished is that initially there was a community for it full of people who supported and promoted each other, were friendly and funny and so on, and I'd love to see that continue. Word.

Anyhow. Enough with the name-dropping and grandstanding and so on. But my goals for the E3 are simply
1) Meet awesome people
2) see some damn awesome games
and maybe even
3) get some hella awesome stuff
There you have it. There is hope of Shigeru Miyamoto seeing me and insisting I be Samus Aran, and they give me a suit and everything, but I think that's a dream that will have to remain just that. I can hope, though. They made the Halo armor, right? A girl can HOPE, right?? ::sigh::

Anyhow. REMEMBER! The illustrious Ken Lowery is having his contest of awesometacularness until the 12th, so get in on that STAT - you will surely not regret it. HELL no. Who can say no to awesome comics? Seriously? Because if you can, I do not know what you are doing HERE, that's for sure. But yeah.

That's it for the Annie show tonight, folks. Be good, and when I talk to you all next, I'll be giving you your FIRST GLIMPSE in that gorgeous world that's been hidden from me for so long... the E3. I can't wait! Squeal and such! ::backflips out the window::

Don't Forget To Tip Your Waitress,
Annie "Blue" C

I sit there staring and there's nothing else to do
