Missing Something Important
July 2, 2004
Hey folks. Sorry about Tuesday's lateness and lack of rant: I had actually said to (our dear visiting friend) Sam earlier that I suspected I'd be a stupid and forget to update the comic, and lo, I was right. Poopie. ANYhow. Comic up now, and that is a goodness, yes? Thought so. ::smile:: And don't blame Sam - having him here was 10 pounds of funness in a 9 pound bag - it was me messing around and being wimpy-tired after watching Big Fish (EXCELLENT film by the way) - prolly used up all my energy trying not to burst into tears at the end (made all of my Will saves tho) (and I will NOT give it away, no worries). So yeah. Sorry the comic was late, visit with Sam was fricking AWESOME, and Big Fish is a terrific film.

And quickly: Tuesday night we - Sam, Web Guy Josiah, and myself - actually got to see a midnight showing of Spider-Man 2, during which I seriously nearly 1) wet my pants with joy, 2) yelped with glee, and 3) gasped with awe. It is what a superhero movie SHOULD BE. Come to think of it, it is what FAR more movies should be like, and really... it's funny... there really aren't that many fights in the film (although the ones in there are FAN-GOD-DAMN-TASTIC), leaving it to really focus on the reality of Peter Parker as a human being - which is what made Spider-Man so remarkable in the first place. And I was a fool for not loving Alfred Molina to death and back before. Not that I didn't like him - I certainly did - I just didn't love him, for which I was a stupid. I heart piece Alfred Molina. Just so everyone knows.

Oh, and before the show, there was a crazy fan in the audience dressed like Spidey who leapt up and started running up and down the aisles, and - egged on from the sidelines by a fellow dressed as J. Jonah Jameson - a guy dressed as Doc Ock leapt up and ran at Spidey, and stuff was THROWN DOWN. Meaning a fight ensued. It was great: people were yelling and cheering, and the guys were all wailing on each other, and it was GREAT. I can't remember the last time I made a midnight showing of a film, but when it's something like Spider-Man 2, it's the crowd that helps the fun. ::smile:: Shout-outs to those guys, at the Irvine Spectrum theater. You helped make it extra awesome.

Well, I think that's it for this edition: have a good weekend, and see you peeps on Tuesday. To the Americans: have a happy Independence Day, and for Bob's sake don't blow yourselves up with the fireworks and the hey-hey. To everyone else: just ignore us. We (as a nation) are likely going to be drinking quite heavily this weekend and making things explode prettily. This means on Monday we will probably have a hangover, so if you could be a bit quieter (I'm looking at you, Canada and Mexico), we'd all really appreciate it. In advance, you know. I'm just sayin' is all.

Love To All the Wide World,
Annie "Blue" C

Is everyone OK
