A Little More Attention Than I Was Expecting
November 1, 2005
Yeah. I shit you not. I was a Cardboard Tube Pandaren for Blizzcon - and FUCKING HELL, did I get noticed. Literally from the second Web Guy Josiah dropped me off outside of the Convention Center I was getting people asking to take pictures of me, and when I actually got IN the center a guy asked if he could hug me. This lasted from about 3 PM until around 9:15 when I left - and the guys from Rufus Cubed Productions (makers of the short World of Warcraft film "Return" - winner of the Best Movie award of Blizzcon, and for good reason - that movie FUCKING ROCKS!) came up to me as I was heading out of the lobby and told me that I made them all "happy pandas," and they gave me a standing ovation when I appeared in the Costume Contest (that was so damn sweet I nearly died. Seriously). During the day I seriously DID give two interviews - one to MTV Asia and the other to G4 TV (it's going to be on tomorrow's Attack of the Show - and Kevin asked me to do my murloc impression, and you should know I was embarrassed and nervous enough as-is - if I make any mistakes, it's because I was a bit nervous, NOT because I'm dumb! ...really! Honest!) It was a tremendous day, overwhelming in fact, but I got to see a ton of awesome Blizzard stuff, incredible costumes, and meet some really excellent people. I owe my friend Dan a GINORMOUS hug for letting me have his guest pass, because seriously, BEST TIME EVER. I do wish I'd gotten my ass there earlier so I could have seen some more panels, but hey, there's always next year... ::schemes::

In case you are really hankering to see some pictures, I have my picture page up HERE, and also - I can be seen here (blurrily), here (with Claire, and me looking really unsightly as I look up at the ginormous screen in Hall B), here (with Claire, and the both of us looking very justifiably tired), and here (Claire and I looking more upbeat). You should browse through all the photos in the official site, because they're all totally awesome. ALSO! A downloadable video of the Costume Contest is on this page (WARNING: it's long - a HALF HOUR - but very cool, and worth watching for all the contestants. If you care, I'm #12, and yes it was very disorganized, because we were all on the sidelines and couldn't hear a goddammed thing the announcer was saying because all of the speakers were facing AWAY from us. DOWNLOAD AND WATCH IT!).

Whew... I gots links for you, but they'll have to wait until Friday, if you do not mind, as I am one TIIIIIRED panda. You all be well, and take care and the suchlike. Peace out!

Happy Panda!
