For the Record, I Was Right
March 7, 2006
Very sadly, I must truncate this rant due to time constraints (i.e. needing to get some god dammed sleep for a change), but I would be remiss if I didn't point out to you that not only was this an actual, nearly verbatim discussion between Web Guy Josiah and I, but that the book in question is real as well (not to mention a cracking good - but kind of freaky - read). It's written by Max Brooks (son of Mel Brooks, whom you should know of, otherwise I have no faith in your sense of humor at all), and is actually a very serious examination of how to survive should the dead once again walk the earth. And I was totally right about zombies and fire, a point that Web Guy Josiah has since grudgingly conceded.

You probably don't trust me saying this, because I've been saying it for so LONG, but we actually ARE working on the new site. There is just... a LOT of it. We've been updating twice a week, without fail (as the title says) since November 2001 - in comics alone, we've got over 400. I'm not bragging - plenty of comics out there that can beat that, and THEN some - I am just saying this by way of "please for to cut us some slack, and not stab us in the eyes." Thanks.

As Annie mentioned, there are a few reasons why the new site isn't out yet, and it's basically my fault. I haven't been spending time working on it. But hey, can you blame me? I've got school work and for-pay work that take my time, and they tend to take priority over rewriting the site. Good news though, I've managed to monkey-patch together some code which is able to parse all of the rants and split them up into Annie and Josiah pieces. Doesn't seem like a big thing until one realizes that there are at least a dozen different ways we have ended our posts in the 400+ rants over the years. You will see why this is important when everything gets pushed out.

About the only things remaining are the 'art' pages and the 'store' pages. The 'art' page is going slow because Annie went and made thumbnails for all of the art, but named the thumnails different from the originals (not something like original.jpg -> thumb_original.jpg, but where she actually changes the original name to something different and not always related). PITA. Some are the same, and what I did with the descriptions (which were also named almost - but - not - quite - the - same), I'll probably do with the thumbnails. The hard parts are mostly over, and the site does look better. Yay!
