E3 2006 Sketchstravaganza!

Whew... another E3 come and gone. That's kind of strange to believe, that I would be old hat at this by now, that there were people at my company (whom the more erudite have probably guessed already) who had far more industry experience than I and yet had never gone, but here I was going to be at my THIRD E3. Crazy. I could rattle off things I saw, sure, but the list would be short: I was up-front about my reasoning for going to this E3, which was to see PEOPLE first, and games second - and I was not disappointed. In fact, I was tremendously lucky in ways I can barely BEGIN to describe, and which the picture posted here on Friday only scratches the surface of: that captures just a moment in time, and does not detail things like being able to chat with Jerry, hanging out with Grandma and Tim and sharing stories of crazy E3 moments, shooting the shit with Porkfry... and that's just that one hour of that one day. I got to spend a lot of time with Lem "Hot Soup" Pew (of Lethal Doses - a temporary video blog of E3 that you should go and see RIGHT NOW) and his compadres Mike and The Internet's Dave, chatting and game demoingness with Guy (and seeing HIS neato game, Hellgate: London!), neato talkingness with Saleem of the badass GameChew, lunch with the vivacious Christa (whom appeared in the second panel of one of last year's comic E3 rundowns) and the talented Chris Morrison, and even got to see the famed Jeremy "teh pwnerer" of Pure Pwnage lay some serious smack down on the Wii. And even THAT does not cover all of the awesome folks I got to chat with, the pride I felt at seeing our game - what will be my first shipped title! I cannot DESCRIBE the pride! - demoed to appreciative folks, and see some truly remarkable titles coming our way. It was all a potent beverage of pure joy, and I am staggering with glee even now.
It's surreal, really. More than once I've asked the question of who the hell am I, to get to meet people this cool? I'm afraid one day they'll find me out and revoke my passport to visit the Cool People's Table. But in the meantime I'm going to keep enjoying myself, and counting myself blessed beyond belief. I'm lucky for my life, I'm lucky for my health, I'm lucky for my sweet silly and patient Web Guy Josiah, I'm lucky to have you kind people taking time out of your day to read whatever silly folderol I post here. I appreciate it, I value it more than I can say. Thanks.
Oh - and I really liked the Wii. I liked the most that it will probably only cost like $250 and not the PS3's bend-over-and-grab-your-ankles $500-600. Also, I'm going to finally break and buy a DS Lite. I will admit that Nintendo finally stole away my soul. My Wii-likes outnumber my Wii-dislikes, and shit man, that controller can be FUN. But yeah. That's the updating you get, MUAHAHA.
Gotta run - but I'll see you guys again on Friday with a special GUEST COMIC from the one and only WEB GUY JOSIAH - so be prepared. And I made him promise not to make it Wangzilla so you can rest easy. We keep things Safe For Work here, thanks. ::chuckle:: Be good!
