Eleven IS Higher Than Ten
July 11, 2006
Ah, Guitar Hero. Finally got a chance to actually PLAY it this past Friday, whilst rocking out with some co-workers in a truly enjoyable gaming free-for-all... and now I crave that game. But alas, Web Guy Josiah is leery of it - not because he does not think it is GOOD, but because it would seem he fears (perhaps justifiably so) the power such a game might have over my very soul. But ah, such is life. And there I go, referencing video games again. What will the neighbors think?

Sorry again about last Friday's OMG THROWN TOGETHAR comic - the product of desperation, and a very "meta" little creation: a crappy comic explaining its own crappiness in a story of how I came to feel crappy. Very modern. And by "modern," I mean "thrown together in an hour with Photoshop, a Wacom tablet, and good ol' Mr. Prescription Cough Syrup" (ah, prescription cough syrup. Color of cat piss, consistency of an open can of Coke left in the sun for two days, taste like the underside of someone's sneaker, and a punch like being kicked in the brainpan by a Clydesdale. Good NIGHT!). And with the, ah, sudden influx, it was a bit, shall we say, like opening the door - disheveled and in my Underroos, expecting maybe a confused UPS guy - and finding the entire student body of a state university staring at me expectantly. It was an, ah, interesting followup to a sudden burst of traffic.

And of course - a warm welcome (albeit a bit belated) to those of you first arriving at this humble little webcomic from the gargantuan goliath known as Penny Arcade: I hope you find this place to your liking. Browse to your heart's content, snoop here and there (like the decor? It's new!), and feel free to screech at me via email with your thoughts and impressions - I really honestly do crave the sweet savor of feedback. And that goes as well for those of you who've been here a while: speak up, out, or in whatever direction you please (I should say as well that we actually do have a forum). And of course, to all of you, in all seriousness: thanks for stopping by. For you it's just a webcomic, but for me, it's somethin' I invest myself in, and if I can make something that people like - it's just about the Best Thing Ever.
Be good, and come Friday I will have yet ANOTHER comic for your perusal. I am just unstoppable like that.

Monster of Rock,
Annie "Blue" C

yeah I am blinded by your smiles
- Freezepop
"Tender Lies"

I believe that Annie misunderstands my intent in regards to Guitar Hero. On the one hand, if she enjoys it, I certainly want her to play it. On the other hand, we have many video games that neither she nor I have ever played. Also, she would verily demand two guitar attachments, and when she played, would poke me in the ribs until I played. Which brings me to my only problem with Guitar Hero. I'm sure it is a very entertaining game. However, I used to play guitar. I wasn't ever very good, but at some point I would like to pick it up again (perhaps after grad school). And every minute that I would play Guitar Hero is a minute that I could play a real guitar. So it's not so much that I have a beef with Guitar Hero, it's that I would prefer to play a real guitar.
