BARRY RETURNS! Woot! Hooray for Barry, his awesomeness, and how many times he's saved my ass so far (six at least). HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGS!
Hey cats - as much as I do enjoy wibbiling about all things under the sun and wasting your valuable time with my randomness, this time I actually have two very important (no, SERIOUSLY!) things to talk to you about (and it isn't me begging for more guest comics, although I could use a couple):
ITEM THE FIRST! I am late in reporting this, but extremely talented artist and all around awesome person Lea Hernandez lost nearly everything she had in a house fire near the beginning of the month, and is doing her best to try and get a place to stay and clothes for her kids. She's been through hell - BUT the comic community has been rising up to help, and dammit, WE SHOULD. Any donations one might wish to give, please send to her PayPal account at divalea@gmail.com.
I have been remiss in offering up any kind of happy freebie wallpaper to thank those who have donated to good causes in the past, but let me know if you donated and I'll try and work up something neato for you all when I have time again (which should be soon, I hope... SO CLOSE TO BEING DONE!) But please donate if you can.
ITEM THE SECOND! The enormously talented Paul Taylor of the sublime webcomic Wapsi Square and his lovely wife have recently had a baby that was born a month prematurely (on August 16), and has required an extended hospital stay. Long hospital stays = scary big bills, and Paul and his spouse already have the usual suite of new parental worries. Paul is an amazing artist and a tremendously nice guy, and his comic group, Blank Label, is holding a fundraiser to help out Paul & his wife & wee one. Please take the time to check out some of the remarkable original art that's being auctioned off and maybe put in a bid, and/or donate to Paul and his family via the link on the Wapsi Square site (look for the image of Monica wearing a "SUPPORT WAPSI" shirt, and click on it to head to PayPal).
See the above comment about freebie wallpaper or stuff - Paul's been a wonderful and supportive friend to me for years, one of the first sites to link I'm Blue, and very seriously he is a great guy and his talent is inspiring. I know bringing up both of these instances at once is taxing and a lot to ask for, but I know anything you could give to Lea or Paul would be tremendously appreciated.
