Wow. So, jury duty today. I wish I could spin some fuckery about how it's our civic duty, and wow don't we have such a great legal system that we are represented by a jury of our peers, and gee isn't the legal system fasciating, but right now all I have to say is THANK SWEET BABY JESUS I GOT OUT OF THAT HELLISH MESS WITHOUT BEING ASSIGNED. Of course I know the second I'm free for service again they'll snap me up - just like LAST TIME, goddammit - but in the meantime I'm going to gleefully taunt them, and maybe pretend to hurl a giant wooden bunny at them if they decide to give me more crap. That'll put a spoke in their wheel!
(NOTE: if you are not from "TEH USA" and are not 100% familiar with our legal system, I shall merely say that I spent my day sitting in a very big, boring and hot room attempting to play on my DS while "I Love Lucy" played on crappy TVs and waited for someone to call my number to possibly get assigned to judge a random stranger in a trial with 11 other strangers. I'm not crapping on our legal system, but being a practical person AND being married to a man whose path of study is kind of about optimizing things I tend to think things having to do with bureacracy could stand to be streamlined mebbe just a leeeeeetle beeeeet. Anyhow)
Another downside of this is that the day engendered in my a particular tiredness that kind of killed my desire to go to the gym (and thus, yes, arms still feel like noooooodles), AND systematically took any kind of humor I had out back behind the shed and shot it in the skull. * So Neill Blomkamp. He's a dude who's set to direct the Halo movie (whenever the hell it actually happens). And you may be like "OMG HE'S NOT JOHN WOO OR JAMES CAMERON LOL SUK" (in which case get the hell off my website, I have no candy for you) but seriously - the guy has made some amazingly unique, strange, and moving short films. I direct your eyes to the remarkable Alive in Joburg, Tetra Vaal, and the unusually captivating Tempbot. You should just sorta, you know - clear your schedule for the next half-hour or so. You're gonna want to watch those. Just trust me.
* Speaking of terrifying tendencies to take human language and putting it into a blender with "stupid" and "caps lock," here is a "translator" that takes normal sentences and 'translates' them into 12-year-old-with-AOL-speak. SO NOW U CAN TOK LIEK PART OF UR BRANE HAS 3XPLODED!!1!11 Wow.
