Bad Business

Yeah... don't know how many out there in Readerland will jive with Blue, versus how many are in Celia's state, but basically - the joke itself sprang from a discussion in my WoW guild about the price ($500 for the base system, and $600 for the normal one, for those not in the know - otherwise known as a LOT of fucking MONEY) [NOTE: this is the actual guild chat. I didn't change it at all. Guess which one is me]

Also - COMIC SPOILER BELOW, read the comic first, and then come back.

Aside from that, stores got... oh, hell. I was going to be nice and say they received slightly less than they were counting on, but they basically got fucked over and got maybe a HANDFUL of what they were counting on - the Playstation 3 is launching with only 400,000 or so units, leaving people scrambling to find one (for comparison, the Nintendo Wii is running at like 4 MILLION units. You want one, you got it). And nationwide, the PS3 launch is going... well... if this is any indication, I'd say pretty shittily (also, it seems like the Japanese launch didn't go so well either). And from the actual experience of a co-worker of mine as he stayed up ALL NIGHT to try and get a PS3 - only to get screwed over by the management of Best Buy (yes, retailers, fuck you too - you think I'd forget you? Some of you can be good folks, I know, but you can also be total shits) - yeah.

I could get a bit annoyed at Sony about this and that thing before the advent of the PS3, but I've been shaking my head in incredulity so much at all this madness for the past 5-6 months it's a goddamn wonder it hasn't fallen right off. Call me a Nintendo fangirl all you want - I'm going to be there at Sunday at midnight to pick up my very own Wii - but Nintendo won me over. They took a risk, played their cards right, and most of all, they weren't fucking morons about it. Seriously.

Anyhow. I've got to get to sleep - gotta crank out comics for next week, when I'll be out of town and up in Minnesota for Thanksgiving with the in-laws - but you cats take care, have a fun holiday (for you Americans who enjoy our own holiday for the consumption of poultry and pie), and rantage will resume the Friday after next. Farewell!

For the Love of the Game,
Annie "Blue" C

I'm just thinking 'bout where it all went wrong
