Seeing that movie today, actually - IMAX, even. Company movie day, WOOT. It's not the Game Developer's Conference, but hey - I'm cool. Maybe I gets to go next year! I promise not to try and kidnap Will Wright. No promises about Tim Schafer, though.
Speaking of the GDC, did you guys hear about this game here - Little Big Planet? Fucking A, man - check this shit OUT. Holy crap, so unbelievable. That exudes happiness to me, at least on the level of a Katamari Damacy, something where youre smiling and smiling and giggling and screeching with reckless abandon, and you just dont even CARE, man. Im bummed that its PS3 but moreover I am amazed, because I had not thought the machine capable (in a business sense) of delivering something that was so focused on delivering a package of such concentrated joy. Certainly Sony brought us the superlative Ico and Shadow of the Colossus and has excellent studios like Insomniac and Naughty Dog under its wing but I had not so much thought of those things as the province of this new, evil Sony, this dark and dumbshit entity that seemed to take perverse pride in its own inability to communicate with its customers Anakin turned to the Dark Side (the gullible and whiny, the making-evil-lame), not Vader proper. I have to say that I am not coming from a perspective of a "Sony hater," here I still have a fondness for the sad little PSP - too much left in the cold by its parent! - and the PS2 from which many an excellent game hath sprung (and the most-used console in my household, before the advent of the Wii... and for god's sakes, in the early days of this here comic I even did a story arc about acquiring a PS2) but as someone who has logged their most preposterous errors with a wide-eyed disbelief. It just - to sum up - seems kind of weird, really. I won't be buying a PS3 to play this, but damn if I won't insist long and loud that we buy it for the PS3 at work. Hoo-yes.
And now, for your Internet-searching joy, I give you LINKSTRAVAGANZA!
* I have determined that I have to see this movie. I'm usually not one for monster movies - but damn if this doesn't look like something special. Get out there and enjoy that, mothercrunkers! RAAAAAAAAR!
* Holy crap, MacHall is back - in a whole new way. Behold the new experiment of Ian and Matt, Three Panel Soul! Different, tasty, and new - and great to have them back. Hell yes.
* Goddammit - Crap I Drew On My Lunch Break is updating again and nobody told me?! AUGH! ::darts off to catch up on archives:: Yay comics.
* This song is dumb but I cannot stop grinning at it. There - you have been warned. WARNED I SAY!
